MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Evergreen Aviation Museum is inviting the public to take part in this yearÕs spring break activities during the week of Mar. 25 to April 1.
The weekÕs activities will begin on Sat., Mar. 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear veterans and pilots share first-hand stories at featured aircraft including the B-17 Flying Fortress, Douglas DC-3, Supermarine Spitfire, SR-71 Blackbird, F6F-3 Hellcat and the HughesÕ Flying Boat Spruce Goose. In addition to the hands-on exhibits featured in the childrenÕs interactivity center, the museum will also offer special childrenÕs glider building activities throughout the week.
The Spring Break activities will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. gallery tours, as well as opportunities to view the SR-71 Blackbird cockpit, the Spruce Goose cargo deck and the virtual flight deck tour of the Spruce Goose. Hands-on exhibits in the ChildrenÕs Interactivity Center will also be available. Visit the Spruce Goose CafŽ and the recently remodeled Rotors, Wings & Things store.
The Evergreen Aviation Museum is best known as the home of the worldÕs largest wooden airplane, the Spruce Goose, SR-71 Blackbird and Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat. In addition, there are more than 75 historic aircraft and exhibits on display, along with artwork, traveling displays, the newly remodeled Spruce Goose CafŽ and the Rotors, Wings & Things store. The Evergreen Aviation MuseumÕs hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily except when it is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New YearÕs Day and Easter. The Museum is located at 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, across the highway from the McMinnville Airport and about three miles southeast of McMinnville, Ore., on Highway 18.
