Exciting Hands-On Education Throughout Spring Break

Evergreen Aviation Museum encourages parents and students to take advantage of spring break as a time to learn about aviation history first-hand.

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Evergreen Aviation Museum is inviting the public to take part in this year’s spring break activities during the week of Mar. 25 to April 1.

The week’s activities will begin on Sat., Mar. 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear veterans and pilots share first-hand stories at featured aircraft including the B-17 Flying Fortress, Douglas DC-3, Supermarine Spitfire, SR-71 Blackbird, F6F-3 Hellcat and the Hughes’ Flying Boat Spruce Goose. In addition to the hands-on exhibits featured in the children’s interactivity center, the museum will also offer special children’s glider building activities throughout the week.

The Spring Break activities will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. gallery tours, as well as opportunities to view the SR-71 Blackbird cockpit, the Spruce Goose cargo deck and the virtual flight deck tour of the Spruce Goose. Hands-on exhibits in the Children’s Interactivity Center will also be available. Visit the Spruce Goose Café and the recently remodeled Rotors, Wings & Things store.

The Evergreen Aviation Museum is best known as the home of the world’s largest wooden airplane, the Spruce Goose, SR-71 Blackbird and Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat. In addition, there are more than 75 historic aircraft and exhibits on display, along with artwork, traveling displays, the newly remodeled Spruce Goose Café and the Rotors, Wings & Things store. The Evergreen Aviation Museum’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily except when it is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Easter. The Museum is located at 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, across the highway from the McMinnville Airport and about three miles southeast of McMinnville, Ore., on Highway 18.
