Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum Celebrates Veterans
McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Sat. Đ Sun., Nov. 10-11, 2007 - In honor of VeteranŐs Day, the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is recognizing U.S. service men and women with special activities throughout the day.
The museum is honored to host a series of presentations and exhibits featuring veterans. The celebration begins at 9 a.m. when the museum doors open on Sat., Nov. 10 and continues through Sun., Nov. 11. Guests will be able to tour the Spruce Goose cargo deck, view the cockpit of the SR-71 Blackbird, view 50 military uniforms spanning 50 years of American military history presented by United VeteranŐs Group of Oregon and enjoy the interactive exhibits and flight simulators in the childrenŐs Flight Zone. The B-17 Flying Fortress will be open for interior tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. B-17 Flying Fortress tours are an additional $3/person, $10/family and veteranŐs B-17 tours are free.
Special book signings and movies will also be featured throughout the weekend. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat. and Sun., Airborne Army Ranger Tom Wiggins will be signing his newly released book 100 Days in Ghan. It is the story of his experiences in Afghanistan. The museum will also feature a 1 p.m. showing daily on Sat. and Sun. of American Legacy, a 112 minute film regarding World War I and a 3 p.m. showing daily of Silent Wings, a 112 minute film regarding World War II in the museum theater.
At 7:30p.m. Sat. and 6 p.m. on Sun., the Evergreen IMAX¨ theater will feature a screening of Gary MortensenŐs documentary Iraq: This is War. The film is 84 minutes and has a special pricing of $5/ person. Due to the adult content of this film, we recommend parental discretion for children.
Veteran recognition festivities will also include an 11 a.m. VeteranŐs Day ceremony on Sun. The ceremony will include a presentation by Scot Laney, producer of Iraq: This is War.

The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is best known as the home of the worldŐs largest wooden airplane, the ŇSpruce GooseÓ, SR-71 ŇBlackbirdÓ, the Titan II SLV Missile and the Grumman F6F-3 ŇHellcatÓ.
