Having proven itself as the backbone of airmobile combat operations during the Vietnam War, the Huey became the most universal military aircraft of the modern era, serving all branches of the American armed forces, as well as more than fifty foreign countries. Since 1955, Bell has designed more than fifteen versions of the hardworking and versatile aircraft, and built more than 11,800. Bell produced more than 5,400 “H” model Hueys, than any other model! This one provided years of service to the Oregon Army National Guard and is currently on loan to the Museum from the United States Army.
