The Mohawk became the first turboprop-powered aircraft to enter operational service in the United States Army. Its primary mission was in photo observation and electronic reconnaissance, supplying Army field commanders with information about the strength and activity of enemy forces, whether in daylight, darkness or bad weather. Arriving in May of 2002, this Mohawk actually came to the Museum by air, but not under its own power. It was transported slung under a Boeing-Vertol CH-47 Chinook helicopter of the Oregon Army National Guard! The aircraft is on loan from the United States Army.
